Today Was a Fairytale by Taylor Swift

This is the first single from the soundtrack for the romantic comedy Valentine's Day, in which Taylor Swift makes her movie acting debut. The country-pop singer wrote this song for the film.
The song features boy-meets-girl lyrics utilizing a fairy tale metaphor in a similar way to Swift's 2008 single " Love Story."
The song first appeared in late December 2009 in a teaser trailer for Valentine's Day.
Another page was written in Taylor Swift's own personal fairytale when it was announced that this song broke the record for best first-week download sales by a female artist moving 325,000 digital sales on the first February chart of 2010. The prior mark for biggest debut week download sales by a female artist belonged to Britney Spears' " Womanizer," which moved 286,000 units in October 2008. The largest opening week for a track among all artists was established by Black Eyed Peas' " Boom Boom Pow" (465,000) in April 2009.

Spears took her record back again in January 2011 when " Hold It Against Me" debuted with 411,000 downloads in its first week.
For those of you who like chart trivia, in its second week on the Hot 100 the song dropped from #2 to #22. The tune that had been #22 the previous week was Swift's collaboration with Boys Like Girls, thus demonstrating that two is indeed better than one. Maybe this song should have been titled "2day Was a Fairytale."
This song was only the second ever, following Eminem's Crack a Bottle, to debut at #1 on the Canadian Hot 100.
